We are Rembrandt and Bas: two friends from Utrecht and the creators of Kids Chapters.
What connects us? A love for stories and a wish many parents recognize: getting children to enjoy reading again. That's why we're building books that are truly personal.

The moment everything changed
We had been working with stories, technology, and design for years. But it wasn't until we saw children react to a book where they were the main character that we saw the magic.
The difference was unmistakable:
Children remember a story better when they're in it themselves.
Not as a spectator, but as the main character. With their own name. Their own character. Their own world.
Our research: why does it work?
That insight wouldn't let us go. We talked to educators, teachers, child psychologists, writers, and of course: children. We wanted to understand why some stories stick and others fade like snow in the sun.
The answer we kept hearing was clear:
Recognition = engagement.
When a child recognizes themselves in a story, attention, enjoyment, and learning capacity all grow.
Why personalized children's books work so well
Reading enjoyment is under pressure. Screens are everywhere, and reading often feels like "work" for many children. That's why we create personalized children's books that children don't just read, but experience.

Who does what?
We create Kids Chapters with two different "superpowers":
Rembrandt
Rembrandt writes the stories and ensures the illustrator understands exactly what he wants to convey in the text.
Bas
Bas researches what children find important in a story and ensures the website experience is flawless.
Together we create stories with love for children, for language, and for that one look of:
"Wait… this is about me?!"
